1. India–Chile FTA/CEPA: वर्तमान स्थिति क्या है?

भारत और चिली के बीच वर्तमान में व्यापक Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement — CEPA पर बातचीत Ongoing है।

भारत और चिली ने 8 मई 2025 को CEPA negotiations के लिए Terms of Reference पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इसका उद्देश्य मौजूदा Preferential Trade Agreement को व्यापक बनाकर व्यापार, निवेश, digital services, MSMEs और critical minerals जैसे क्षेत्रों में सहयोग बढ़ाना है।

अगस्त 2026 में दोनों देशों के अधिकारियों ने बातचीत की प्रगति की समीक्षा की। Chile के अनुसार अधिकांश chapters पर प्रगति हो चुकी थी और market access, critical minerals तथा अन्य महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रों पर बातचीत जारी थी। दोनों पक्षों ने 2026 के अंत तक negotiations पूरी करने का लक्ष्य व्यक्त किया है।

महत्वपूर्ण: CEPA अभी लागू FTA नहीं है। जब तक negotiations, signature, domestic approval/ratification और implementation की प्रक्रिया पूरी नहीं होती, इसे लागू FTA के रूप में  लिखा / पढ़ा नहीं जाना चाहिए।  

भारत–चिली व्यापार की दिशा

  • 2007 में India–Chile Preferential Trade Agreement लागू हुआ।
  • 2017 में इसका विस्तार हुआ।
  • 2024 में bilateral trade लगभग US$3.84 billion था।
  • Chile के अनुसार 2025 में bilateral trade US$5.5 billion से अधिक हो गया।
  • 2026 में Chile से India को exports में तेज वृद्धि देखी गई।
  • जनवरी–अगस्त 2026 में Chile की India को exports लगभग US$4.254 billion तक पहुँच गईं, जिनमें copper, gold, iodine, lithium chemicals, fruits और nuts जैसे उत्पाद प्रमुख रहे।

इससे संकेत मिलता है कि दोनों economies में resource–manufacturing–technology complementarity मौजूद है।
