Nyaya Setu-Bridge towards Justice

India's judicial system is strained with over 40 million pending cases and only around 17,000 judges to handle them, resulting in a slow and inefficient process. This leads to long wait times, increased costs, and a heavy burden on all parties involved. To address these challenges, there is a critical need for a new, transparent system that streamlines workflow and empowers stakeholders. Utilizing Blockchain technology offers a promising solution by ensuring tamper-proof records and transparency throughout the legal process. The objective is to create a faster, fairer, and more accessible legal system that alleviates the strain on judges and enhances the experience for lawyers and users alike.

For Court Staff

  • The court staff can create a new case and add required details
  • The case is stored as NFT in the Blockchain, this ensures transparency of the case
  • As the case proceeds the staff can update the details by making a transaction.
  • The court staff can connect with lawyers, plaintiff or defendants by scheduling a meeting

For Lawyers

  • The lawyers have access to the cases they are involved in.
  • With the help of AI, the lawyer can efficiently analyse the case and case details.
  • The lawyer can seamlessly experience a mock trial by providing the AI judge with the case details
  • The lawyer can conduct meetings with the plaintiff, defendant or other lawyers involved

Lastly, the objective is to create a faster, fairer, and more accessible legal system that alleviates the strain on judges and enhances the experience for lawyers and users alike.

Challenges

Few of the challenges that we faced during building the project are ~

  • Exploring the various tools employed for storing and managing data on the blockchain.
  • The mechanism to figure out how updating of the case will be handled on the Blockchain.
  • Integrating Gemini AI for the Lawyers Dashboard
  • Bringing all the features together and making sure we have a consistent UI
