Ministry of Health proposes operationalizing of 100 Food Streets across the country to promote hygienic and safe food practices

Financial assistance of Rs. 1 crore per Food Street to states/UTs

In a significant and innovative move, Union Health Ministry in collaboration with Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has requested states/UTs to develop 100 food streets in 100 districts across the country. This initiative is being taken up as a pilot project to create an example for other such streets to come up across the country for ensuring hygienic and safe food practices. The aim of this project is to encourage safe and healthy food practices among food businesses and community members, thus, reducing foodborne illnesses and improving the overall health outcomes.

In a letter to states, Shri Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary and Shri Manoj Joshi, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs Secretary have highlighted that “Easy access to safe and hygienic food is vital for the good health of citizens. Safe food practices not only promote “eat right campaign” and food safety, but will improve hygiene credibility of local food businesses, boost local employment, tourism and in turn, economy. It also leads to a cleaner and greener environment.”

Street foods have traditionally been an integral part of Indian society and are present all across the Country. They represent the rich local tradition of cuisine. Street foods not only provide daily diet at affordable prices to millions but also provide direct employment to a large number of people and also support the tourism industry. Food Safety and Hygiene at street food outlets & hubs remain a matter of concern. With rapid urbanization, while these hubs have led to easy access to food, this has also aggravated the issue of food contamination & associated health issues due to unhygienic and unsafe food practices.

This unique initiative will be implemented through National Health Mission (NHM) in convergence with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs & with technical support from FSSAI. The financial assistance for the initiative to States/UTs in the form of Rs.1 crore per food street/districts will be given to fill up critical gaps. 100 such food streets will be opened up in 100 districts across the country (List given below). This assistance will be provided under National Health Mission (NHM) in the ratio of 60:40 or 90: 10 with the condition that standard branding of these food streets will be done as per FSSAI guidelines.

Municipal Corporations/Development Authorities/ District Collectors at the state level will take major initiatives to ensure convergence in terms of financial resources & physical infrastructure. Various other initiatives such as training of food handlers, independent third party audits, and certification of Eat Right Street Food Hubs 'SOP for Modernisation of Food Streets', have been taken to enhance food safety standards. Schemes like "Support to Urban Street Vendors (SUSV)", a component of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAYNULM), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs have also been taken up. In addition, States/UTs can also conduct training programmes for street vendors to orient them on aspects vis. food safety, maintenance of hygiene, and waste disposal.

Challenges:

Bag snatching is also one of the popular forms of petty crime.

Pickpockets in crowded places such as bus and train stations

Violent crime isn’t common in this country, especially not against foreigners

scam you or extort money

Police- corruption, known to harass, extort money

India in Safety Index at 47 position.

How Safe is India really?

OVERALL RISK : HIGH

Though India is considered a generally safe country, due to its size, there are more dangerous areas and less dangerous ones. It is necessary that you remain vigilant at all times.

WOMEN TRAVELERS RISK : HIGH

Sexual assaults are on the rise in India, and it is dangerous for women to travel alone in this country, whether by day or night. Always strive to be accompanied by someone when outside. Move-in groups and avoid poorly lit and deserted streets.

SCAMS RISK : HIGH

This is a serious issue in India. If you're a first-time traveler to India, you will most certainly get scammed as this country is notorious for scams performed on tourists. Taxi scams with taxi drivers convincing you to take other accommodation are very common, as are those where vendors give you less change than they should. Whatever service anyone offers you - you find out how much it costs first, because they will try to charge literally everything.

TERRORISM RISK : HIGH

India keeps being targeted by terrorists so there is a great risk of them trying to carry out an attack again. Anti-Western terrorist groups sometimes operate in India, including Islamist extremist groups.

MUGGING RISK : LOW

Muggings and kidnappings aren't at all common in India.

NATURAL DISASTERS RISK : HIGH

The main threats to India when it comes to natural disasters are earthquakes, floods and severe storms that commonly hit this beautiful country causing great damage.

PICKPOCKETS RISK : HIGH

Pickpockets operate literally everywhere in India. Be careful not to get your pockets picked and bag snatching is another very common form of petty theft. Pickpockets are especially common in public transport.

TRANSPORT & TAXIS RISK : MEDIUM

Be wary of pickpockets in public transport, and taxi drivers (as well as tuk-tuk drivers) trying to rip you off. Be especially careful in the overnight buses or trains and don't accept any food or drinks as they might be spiked. Keep in mind that driving is dangerous because of poor road conditions and the fact that India follows the left-hand driving system.

http://www.newstrackindia.com/newsdetails/2013/11/23/310--West-Bengal-s-Rs-120-crore-fillip-for-tourism-.html

Commissioner Bhaskar Khulbe said here Saturday.
The money already allotted to the West Bengal Tourism Department by the chief minister will be used to develop 11 projects that include resorts, hotels and tourism hubs, basically in rural parts of the state.
"West Bengal is emerging as one of the fastest developing states in the country. We also want to make it a hub of working opportunity for youths of the state, with the tourism sector as one source for employment for them," said Khulbe.
"To draw more and more tourists, both from abroad and the various states of India, the projects will be developed under the Public Private Partnership mode and collaboration will be sought from foreign firms," he said.
"Denmark has already shown its willingness to join hands with the West Bengal government to upgrade the state's tourism to a new level," Khulbe added.

Kerala to boost tourism
Kerala Government Partners With Facebook India To Promote Tourism Effectively On Social Media -..

Promoting state tourism has been one of the top priorities of the present Kerala Government. In today’s times social media forms a good portion in your marketing and promotional strategy. However, merely opening a Facebook page doesn’t equate to a social media marketing strategy.

Kerala Tourism has created official Facebook pages in French and German languages, thus becoming the first tourism board in India to launch pages in a foreign language in social media. The pages contain details of the destinations in French (https://www.facebook.com/KeralaTourismeOfficiel) and in German (https://www.facebook.com/KeralaTourismus) languages to help tourists from the respective countries in their preparations, and to enable them to understand the experience offered by the state, a release stated.
http://www.travelbizmonitor.com/kerala-tourism-creates...

“In the technology-driven world of today where information can be made available on mobile phones and computers, the choice of language plays a significant role, especially to reach out to a wider audience. Language should not be a barrier in connecting with people,”

BHUBANESWAR: The state government has decided to develop 11 new tourist spots in the state. "There are many lesser known sites, which have the potential to attract tourists. The tourism department will develop the necessary infrastructure," said tourism minister Maheswar Mohanty.http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/.../artic.../26758834.cms

The young “can-do generation” can achieve every goal: PM Modi

Immense potential and possibilities that exist within the Indian economy. The goal of achieving a $5 trillion Indian economy has been a prominent ambition for India's economic policymakers. Here are some key points to consider regarding India's potential as a land of opportunity and the aspiration to reach a $5 trillion economy:
  1. Large and Diverse Market: India is one of the most populous countries in the world, with a diverse and rapidly growing consumer market. This vast domestic market presents numerous opportunities for businesses in various sectors.

Reform

Revenue department

8. Single flat wise oc

PM Modi to flag off India’s fastest, 1st engineless train on Dec 29

Title: Masterstroke - India's Path to a $10 Trillion Economy

Introduction:

India, with its rich history, diverse culture, and massive population, has long been considered a land of opportunity. Over the past few decades, India has made significant strides in economic growth, lifting millions out of poverty and establishing itself as one of the world's fastest-growing major economies. However, to reach its full potential, India must overcome various challenges, including poverty, inequality, and bureaucratic red tape. In this essay, we will explore how India can achieve the monumental milestone of becoming a $10 trillion economy and the masterstrokes needed to realize this vision.

Current Economic Landscape:

India's economy has experienced remarkable growth over the past few decades, averaging around 7% per year since the early 1990s. The country has become one of the world's largest economies, with a GDP of around $2.9 trillion in 2021. Despite this growth, India still faces significant challenges, including poverty, unemployment, and income inequality.

Vision for a $10 Trillion Economy:

Achieving a $10 trillion economy would require India to more than triple its current GDP. While this may seem like a daunting task, it is not impossible. With the right policies, investments, and reforms, India can unlock its full economic potential and emerge as a global economic powerhouse.

Key Drivers of Growth:

Several key drivers will play a crucial role in India's journey to a $10 trillion economy:

  1. Infrastructure Development:

Investing in infrastructure is essential for economic growth. Improving roads, ports, airports, railways, and power supply will not only create jobs but also reduce transportation costs and improve productivity.

  2. Digital Transformation:

Embracing digital technologies is crucial for India's economic growth. Investing in digital infrastructure, promoting e-commerce, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship will drive productivity and efficiency across all sectors of the economy.

  3. Skill Development:

Investing in education and skill development is essential for India's long-term economic growth. By providing quality education and training to its workforce, India can ensure that it has the skilled manpower needed to drive economic development in the 21st century.

  4. Financial Inclusion:

Promoting financial inclusion is crucial for reducing poverty and inequality in India. By expanding access to banking and financial services, India can empower millions of people to lift themselves out of poverty and participate more fully in the economy.

Masterstrokes for Economic Growth:

Achieving a $10 trillion economy will require bold and innovative policies and reforms. Here are some masterstrokes that could help India realize this vision:

  1. Investing in Infrastructure:

Infrastructure development is crucial for economic growth. India needs to invest heavily in building roads, bridges, ports, airports, railways, and power plants. Public-private partnerships (PPPs) can help attract private investment and ensure that infrastructure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  2. Promoting Digital Transformation:

Embracing digital technologies is essential for India's economic growth. The government should invest in building digital infrastructure, promoting e-commerce, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Initiatives such as Digital India and Make in India can help India become a global hub for digital innovation and technology.

  3. Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship:

India has a vibrant startup ecosystem, but more needs to be done to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. The government should provide support to startups through funding, mentorship, and access to markets. Initiatives such as Startup India and Atmanirbhar Bharat can help create a conducive environment for startups to thrive.

  4. Improving Ease of Doing Business:

India ranks low on the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business index, and bureaucratic red tape remains a significant obstacle to economic growth. The government should streamline regulations, reduce paperwork, and simplify the tax system to make it easier for businesses to operate in India.

  5. Boosting Manufacturing:

India needs to focus on boosting manufacturing to create jobs and drive economic growth. The government should provide incentives to attract investment in manufacturing and improve the ease of doing business for manufacturers. Initiatives such as Make in India and PLI (Production Linked Incentive) schemes can help India become a global manufacturing hub.

  6. Promoting Export-Led Growth:

Increasing exports is essential for India's economic growth. The government should focus on promoting export-oriented industries such as textiles, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. Initiatives such as the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme and the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) can help boost India's exports and reduce the trade deficit.

  7. Investing in Human Capital:

Investing in education and skill development is essential for India's long-term economic growth. The government should focus on improving the quality of education, promoting vocational training, and providing lifelong learning opportunities to its citizens.

  8. Promoting Sustainable Development:

India needs to promote sustainable development to ensure that economic growth is inclusive and environmentally sustainable. The government should invest in renewable energy, promote sustainable agriculture practices, and protect natural resources and biodiversity.

Challenges and Potential Solutions:

While achieving a $10 trillion economy is an ambitious goal, India faces several challenges that need to be addressed:

  1. Infrastructure Deficit:

India's infrastructure deficit is a significant obstacle to economic growth. The government should prioritize infrastructure development and invest in building roads, ports, airports, railways, and power plants.

  2. Bureaucratic Red Tape:

Bureaucratic red tape remains a significant obstacle to economic growth in India. The government should streamline regulations, reduce paperwork, and simplify the tax system to make it easier for businesses to operate in India.

  3. Skill Shortages:

India faces a shortage of skilled manpower, particularly in high-growth sectors such as technology and manufacturing. The government should invest in education and skill development to ensure that India has the skilled manpower needed to drive economic growth.

  4. Income Inequality:

Income inequality remains a significant challenge in India, with a large proportion of the population still living in poverty. The government should focus on promoting inclusive growth and reducing income inequality through targeted social welfare programs and policies.

  5. Environmental Degradation:

Environmental degradation is a significant threat to India's long-term economic growth. The government should promote sustainable development and invest in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture practices, and environmental conservation.

Conclusion:

Achieving a $10 trillion economy is an ambitious but achievable goal for India. By investing in infrastructure, promoting digital transformation, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and investing in human capital, India can unlock its full economic potential and emerge as a global economic powerhouse. With the right policies, investments, and reforms, India can achieve sustained double-digit GDP growth and improve the lives of millions of people across the country. It is time for India to unleash its economic potential and realize its vision of becoming a $10 trillion economy.

India's economic growth for the fiscal years 2025-2026 is projected to be robust, with various sectors contributing significantly to the GDP. Below is a detailed sector-wise analysis:

1. Innovation Hub and Intellectual Property:

  • Innovation and Patents: India is emerging as a key player in the global AI landscape, with significant investments in artificial intelligence and related technologies. The government's IndiaAI Mission, with an investment of $1.25 billion, aims to foster AI development across various sectors. This initiative is expected to boost innovation and increase the number of patents filed, contributing to economic growth.

2. Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI):

  • IT Sector: India's IT industry, valued at $250 billion, continues to be a major contributor to the economy. With a workforce of nearly 5 million programmers, the sector is poised for further growth, driven by digital transformation initiatives and global demand for IT services.

  • AI Development: The integration of AI across industries is expected to enhance productivity and create new business opportunities. India's AI services market is projected to be worth $17 billion by 2027, indicating substantial growth potential.

3. Manufacturing and 'Make in India':

  • Manufacturing Growth: The 'Make in India' initiative aims to transform India into a global manufacturing hub. The government has announced plans to cut duties on electronic components and support domestic manufacturing with financial aid, particularly in the electronics sector.

4. Health Sector:

  • Healthcare Infrastructure: Investments in healthcare infrastructure are expected to improve access to medical services and stimulate economic activity. The government's focus on rural development includes allocations for healthcare facilities, contributing to overall economic well-being.

5. Real Estate Sector:

  • Urban Development: The government's budget includes significant allocations for urban housing development, aiming to address housing shortages and stimulate the real estate market. This is expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to GDP growth.

6. Energy Sector:

  • Electricity and Renewable Energy: India is investing in renewable energy sources, including solar and wind energy, to meet its growing energy demands sustainably. The development of infrastructure projects, such as the National Infrastructure Pipeline, includes investments in the energy sector to ensure reliable power supply.

  • Natural Gas Pipeline: The expansion of natural gas pipelines across the country aims to provide cleaner energy alternatives and reduce dependence on traditional fuels, supporting environmental goals and economic efficiency.

7. Infrastructure Development:

  • Transportation and Connectivity: The government has set ambitious targets for the transport sector, including the development of a 200,000 km national highway network by 2025 and expanding airports to 220. Additionally, plans include operationalizing 23 waterways by 2030 and developing 35 Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs).

  • Railway and Highway Development: Significant investments are being made in railway and highway infrastructure to improve connectivity and reduce logistics costs, thereby enhancing trade and commerce. The National Infrastructure Pipeline outlines these developments, aiming to provide world-class infrastructure to citizens and improve their quality of life.

  • Waterways and River Linking: The National River Linking Project is an ambitious initiative to connect several rivers, forming a vast water grid from the Himalayas to the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. This project aims to alleviate water shortages and flooding by redistributing water, with benefits such as irrigation for millions of hectares of farmland and increased hydroelectric power generation.

8. Automobile Sector:

  • Electric Vehicles (EVs): The automobile industry is focusing on electric mobility, with companies like Maruti Suzuki planning to install fast charging points in major cities to encourage EV adoption. This initiative aims to alleviate consumer concerns about battery drainage and the scarcity of charging infrastructure.

9. Sewage System and Solid Waste Management:

  • Urban Sanitation: Investments in sewage systems and solid waste management are part of urban development plans to improve public health and environmental conditions. These initiatives are expected to enhance the quality of life and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

GDP Contribution Percentages:

While specific GDP contribution percentages for each sector in 2025-2026 are subject to various dynamic factors, the services sector, including IT and healthcare, is expected to continue being the largest contributor, followed by the industrial sector, encompassing manufacturing and infrastructure development. Agriculture will also remain a vital part of the economy, with ongoing investments to boost productivity.

In summary, India's growth potential for 2025-2026 is supported by strategic investments across various sectors, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure development, technological innovation, and sustainable practices.
